Adoption Process

Chihuahuas come in many colour and coat combinations. It is impossible to determine ahead of birth what traits they will possess. However, gender and coat length can be requested, though this limits choice and availability. This is due to small litter sizes and which genes are dominant in the puppy. 

Once you have made a decision to get a Chihuahua and have done some homework, the next step is to email or call with a request for information regarding upcoming litters or puppies in the nursery. We are fair and ethical, do not facilitate bidding wars and treat it as a first come and qualify, first chance basis.

When interest is received, we try to get back to people quickly with an email that introduces us, our lines and then we like to contact people to ask some questions about family, home life, pets past and present, small dog experience, lifestyle (active or more time spent at home) and general expectations. These answers help identify if one of our Chihuahuas is a fit for you and if we hold the kind of principles you expect from a breeder.

When we speak, if we have puppies, we will let you know who is still available. If not, or the ones that are do not fit your criteria, we may have upcoming litters that you can sign up to receive notifications of. Visit our Facebook page for updates and bulletins. Once you have committed to a puppy, their baby cam will be available to you to watch your puppy grow with their mom, home environment and siblings. 

Once your puppy is chosen, we send you the  agreement with the individual puppy information so you can determine If you still wish to proceed with the adoption. We ask that all prospective puppy parents meet their puppy and will arrange a visit with you at this point to ensure the puppy is the right fit for your life. If you are unable to come meet your puppy prior to pick up, other arrangements can be made such as a couple virtual meetings along with scent familiarization. This allows you to get to know your puppy and them to become familiar with your smell so that when you pick them up they will be comfortable with you. 

We walk you through preparing for your puppy along with product recommendations (no financial or other benefit to us) and safety measures. Potty training, sleeping arrangements, walks, health, and socialization are all covered as are any other questions you may have. We are always available to help and are happy to share information. We also provide a book on caring for your puppy to help facilitate an easy transition and positive future for you and your new baby. On the day of pickup you will receive a care package from us that includes all the items you need to bring your puppy home such as food, toys, clothes, and a blanket. You will also receive their veterinarian records and a health certificate. Our puppies are all microchipped, registered and vaccinated. Deposits are due upon contract terms acceptance, final payments are due when you pickup or receive by hand delivery your new baby.
